BoarsHead Theater to Perform
Cristo Rey Community Center’s Kids Playwright
The BoarsHead Theater will perform the Cristo Rey’s Kids Playwright on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 5:00 pm. This event is made possible by a grant from the Capital Region Community Foundation and Staples.
For the last three months Marlene Shelton from the BoarsHead has been working with the Cristo Rey’s kids in encouraging them to write plays from their perspective. These stories will come to life on stage and read by BoarsHead Theater professionals.
Marlene Shelton, Managing Director for the BoarsHead Theater stated, “It was a wonderful experience for me and hopefully for the children. They struggled at first to understand what it meant to write dialogue but eventually they took to it and wrote some clever and humorous plays. We are all looking forward to hearing their stories.”
John Roy Castillo, Executive Director of Cristo Rey Community Center stated, “This project has opened the eyes of our kids to the performing arts and culture. It shows them the opportunities in their lives are endless and they can achieve any professional goals they set. Many thanks to the BoardsHead Theater.”
Please support our kids at 5:00 pm on March 6, 2008. This event is free and open to the public, thanks to the Capital Region Community Foundation and Staples. The BoarsHead is located at 425 S. Grand Ave. Lansing, Michigan.
