Option 1 Credit Union has received a Federal Grant to provide education and support for individuals to become a successful homeowner.  Free Homeownership Classes will be held at Cristo Rey Community Center and are limited to the first 25 individuals who register.  Classes will be held every Thursday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, beginning March 1, 2007 for six weeks and will be conducted in a bilingual format.  The classes will cover the following topics:

March 8Managing your money

March 15Understanding credit

March 22Getting a mortgage loan

March 29Shopping for a home

April 5Keeping your home and managing your finances

Individual counseling will also be available to help you address any credit issues and develop an Action Plan to achieve your goal of home ownership.  Also, if your home is in jeopardy of default, you can schedule an appointment to speak to a Housing Counselor who may be able to talk to your mortgage company on your behalf.
