On, Monday, January 8, 2007, Cristo Rey Community Center Health Clinic will move to 2208 E. Michigan Ave. on a temporary basis for four to five months.  This move is a result of a fire in the Cristo Rey Clinic on Thursday, December 7, 2006.  The clinic at 1717 N. High Street is being gutted and rebuilt because of extensive fire and smoke damage.

John Roy Castillo, Executive Director of Cristo Rey Community Center stated, “I hope that our patients will bear with us during this transitional period. We hope to have our facility on High Street open again in four to five months”.

The Michigan Arson Prevention Committee is offering a $5,000.00 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons who started this fire.  The Michigan Arson Prevention Committee can be contacted at 517-483-6049 or 1-800-44-ARSON.

The temporary health facility at 2208 E. Michigan Ave. is on a bus stop (Route 1), has ample parking in the rear of the building and limited parking in the front entrance. Individuals who may need transportation to the new temporary clinic can make an  arrangement from the Center to the Clinic and return by calling either 517-372-4700 or 517-371-1700.  As long as it is needed, we will transport individuals to the clinic and back twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
